Victoria Gresham - Candidate for Council At-Large, City of Portage
Victoria Gresham is a Deputy Clerk at the Porter County Clerk’s Office and has lived in Portage for over 30 years. Over time, Victoria has served as a Township Trustee Operations Manager, State Certified Level II Assessor, Child Support Case Manager, and is now a state commissioned Notary Public.
During her tenure, Victoria secured federal grant funds for a township park project, successfully coordinated the 2010 state mandated general reassessment project of real estate property and seized thousands of dollars of unpaid child support for Porter County custodial parents. Her ability to think outside-of-the-box has provided positive results time and again, which led to her selection in 2014 for the prestigious statewide Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Leadership Program. In 2015, Victoria was presented with the Up and Coming Woman in Government Award by the Influential Women of Northwest Indiana organization.
Victoria holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Theology from the University of Valparaiso and was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. She also placed on the National Dean’s List and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children as she pursued her degree. She continued her graduate studies at the Indiana University Northwest School of Public and Environmental Affairs while she raised a young family of three children.
Victoria’s desire to help others grew from volunteering as a teenager beside her grandmother with the local 4-H Club and the American Cancer Society, including her visits to her mother’s workplace at a local mayoral office. During high school, Victoria was elected as the Senior Class Treasurer, held the Co-Editor position of her high school newspaper, won several state choral competitions and lettered in various sports.
Victoria strives to do what is right for the greater good. Her strong Christian faith and love for her community is the driving force to serve the residents of Portage as its next City Councilwoman. She is prepared to listen to concerns and take action. Her vision for Portage is to become a pillar in the Northwest Indiana region as a prominent vibrant city, boasting with opportunities for its residents to succeed and live a prosperous life.
Victoria is proudly married to
Dr. Harold S. Gresham Jr. She is an active member of LifePoint Baptist Church; Vice Chairwoman, Porter County Republican Party; Executive Board Officer, Porter County Parks Foundation; Former Member, Portage Lions Club, and Owner of Gresham Notary Services.
