Recorder Chuck Harris was elected as Porter County Recorder in 2019 after serving two terms as the Porter County Coroner.

Chuck graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Philosophy. For the last 20 years, Chuck has been a public servant serving on various boards such as the Porter Starke Foundation Board of Directors, the United Way of Northwest Indiana board, and the VNA Hospice of NWI board. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Legion #94, Porter Masonic Lodge #137, Scottish Rite, Orak Shrine, and the Indiana Recorder’s Association. Chuck's true passion is working to prevent the widespread drug and alcohol addiction that Porter County. He serves as the president of the Porter County Substance Abuse Council and is a member of the Porter County Suicide Prevention Task Force. Chuck has presented at every high school in Porter County on drug and alcohol awareness and continues to lead the fight against this growing problem. While in office, Chuck oversaw the largest high-tech scanning project in office history, taking documents up to two centuries old and having them preserved and digitized making them accessible to all via the internet. Chuck resides in Valparaiso with his wife Michelle, and his three daughters. JOIN THE CAMPAIGN
