FORMER PORTER COUNTY COUNCILMAN ANNOUNCES RUN FOR STATE SENATE

Indiana State Senate Republican Jeff Larson, a former member of the Porter County Council, announced that he has filed his candidacy for the Indiana State Senate in District 4, which, following last year’s redistricting, is composed of portions of LaPorte and Porter counties. A life-long resident of Duneland, Larson is a small business owner and retired educator of building trades who has been serving the Porter County community for many years – both as a member of the County Council and with several local organizations including the Park Foundation, Chesterton Cemetery, NIRPC, and various construction trade groups.

His commitment to the community was recognized when he was named Duneland Volunteer of the Year in 2019 by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce.
“During my tenure on the council, I made it a priority to ensure every hard-earned tax dollar was wisely spent,” Larson said. “As a small business owner for more than 30 years, I know what it takes to balance a budget and make payroll. I’ll take that philosophy with me to the Statehouse. Hard-working Hoosiers deserve leaders who are committed to fiscal responsibility and government efficiency. Thanks to prudent fiscal management, Indiana is on strong financial footing, and I want to help keep it that way.” Larson is also committed to maintaining an open dialogue with constituents. “I take my commitment to serving the community seriously,” he said. “I grew up here, and many generations of my family have called this community home. If my fellow Hoosiers decide to send me to represent them in the General Assembly, I want them to be assured my door is open and I will always be available to listen to their concerns and ideas. And I will work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get things done. We must all work together if we want to continue to make our communities and this state the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Collaboration is key to our success.” Larson, his wife Jane and daughter Julia reside in Duneland.
