Mike (Michael) Fish, is a 21-year law practitioner in Valparaiso, focused upon his Republican Party candidacy for Porter Superior Court #1. Mike’s private practice centers on general litigation, bankruptcy, and family matters. As a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps with the Indiana Army National Guard, Mike recently deployed to the Middle East; he is the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate the 38th Infantry Division, Indianapolis.

​Mike's Legal Experience
Mike has routinely sat as temporary judge in the Porter County Juvenile Court. He has volunteered to perform this service since 2010 and presided as temporary judge on a variety of juvenile delinquency and paternity matters, including custody trials. Mike also sits as temporary judge in other Porter County courts.

Mike worked in general practice with the Valparaiso law firm Terrell and Thrall until he opened a solo practice in 2012. He has argued before the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and has practiced in Indiana’s appellate circuit. Mike has presented cases in a multitude of federal and state courts in addition to Army Courts Martial.

As a previous member of Valparaiso’s Family House board, Mike helped provide a safe environment for children of families that require court supervised visitation. Mike’s local volunteerism includes pro bono representation of clients in a variety of matters; his goal is to complete at least 50 hours of volunteer-service annually. For over 20 years, Mike has worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate with juveniles and families involved in the juvenile court system. Read CASA article here. 

Mike's Background
Committed to service, Mike enlisted in the Army National Guard in high school. He was later commissioned as a federal officer in 2001. In 2009, he deployed on a combat tour with the 38th Infantry Division, Task Force Cyclone, to Afghanistan at both Bagram Airfield and Camp Phoenix, near Kabul. In 2018, Mike deployed for four months with the 76th Infantry Brigade on its Pacific Pathways mission. He recently deployed in the Middle East with the 38th Infantry Division, Task Force Spartan. About Mike
A lifelong Hoosier, Mike grew up in south central Indiana. After attending Indiana State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with general honors, Mike attended Valparaiso University School of Law. He remained in Northwest Indiana after graduation to start a family and practice law. Cynthia (Cindy) is a teacher at Liberty Elementary in Duneland Schools. Mike and Cindy’s two children are students at Chesterton High School. The family resides in Valparaiso along with their dog, Luna. ​
